Graphite drawing Reflection: When I draw with graphite pencil, I have learned that it is very useful to draw exactly what I see, and add in the smallest of details to make it more realistic. I have also learned that if I want to have a very light or faded color, I should blend the pencil with my finger or with a blending stick. Acrylic Paint Reflection: I used acrylic paint for the sunset painting shown in the slideshow above. I learned that using a background or base color can be very helpful as well as overlapping colors when they are wet, to blend, or when they are dry to put light colors on top of dark ones. Clay Sculpture: In the slideshow above I have a picture of a clay tile that I made, I learned that when making these, it is useful when you have some flat parts and then add 3 Dimensional qualities. I also learned how we should always be sure to create a wet rough surface on the clay if you want to attach a new piece. I used this technique in my clay tile because every time is put of a new finger, I had to do this to make sure it stayed on properly. When learning about perspective and space drawings, I learned that when you use focus points in one point or two point drawing it makes the lines more accurate and the picture to look more realistic. When we draw using perspective we make things look more realistic by making things smaller when they are farther away and then bigger when they are up close. And in perspective photos we can make different illusions by putting people and things up close and far away to add a new effect to the picture. During my pointillism/stippling project, I learned that when using a pen, I must put the dots very close together in order to create the darker shades and then farther apart for a lighter color. Also in this project, I realized that it made things easier when I sketched out a drawing of the girl on grid paper and then transferred it onto a new paper as dots. From the unit "Artists Solve Problems" we used different kinds of limitations in our artwork. I tried drawing with my non-dominant hand, I tried painting with new art utensils, and I tried mono-printing with new items such as a beaded necklace. For my final project I tried creating an image using different kinds of tape, layering it to create the darker shades.
